Contributed by: Kim Black, 200YT

It’s no surprise that most people could afford to take a little more time for themselves, and in today’s fast paced world it’s easy to forget to take a moment to breath and relax. However, relaxation plays a key part in our bodies recovery time and has tremendous health benefits, such as:

– Lowers blood pressure
– Slows your heart and breathing rate
– Improves your digestion
– Aids in maintaining normal blood sugar levels
– Reduces cortisol levels
– Helps combat depression
– Reduces muscle tension and chronic pain

With all of these benefits it’s easy to see why destressing is so important! Finding a little bit of peace doesn’t have to be hard or expensive either. Try adding some epsom salts and essential oils to your bath and take a nice long soak. If baths aren’t your thing you can go for a short walk in nature or read a book. Maybe even pick up a new hobby like yoga or gardening, whatever it is find a few minutes of inner peace each day.
